Building Safety Behavior Management Leadership
Prerequisite: CTC 102, Foundations for Safety Behavior Management
Building Safety Behavior Management Leadership helps production supervisors and managers improve their interpersonal skills of leading and managing others. Built upon Peak's Safety Behavior Management course, this leadership course teaches supervisors how to exercise the appropriate styles of leadership that are necessary to accomplish the job both safely and productively — a concept Peak terms SafeProduction.
Utilizing the DiSC® Dimensions Of Behavior™ introduced in the prerequisite course, participants learn the natural leadership styles of each DiSC® behavior tendency, including what leadership style they are most responsive to as a follower. Advanced skills in communicating are also taught so that no SafeProduction communication will be rejected or ignored.
Like its prerequisite course, this leadership course involves interactive exercises, including small discussion groups, role playing, and an analytical profile (teaching tool) that assists participants in understanding the impact of behavioral tendencies on the choice of leadership style.
The major teaching units of Building Safety Behavior Management Leadership are:
• Introduction – The Need for Behavior Based Leadership
• Leaders and Leadership Defined
• The Basic Styles of Leadership
• Application of Leadership Styles to SafeProduction Situations
• How to Build SafeProduction Teamwork through Exercising Appropriate Leadership
